The Loose Change system is a table-top role-playing game system focused on narrative. Here are a few things that make it special:
Characters are truly classless - This means that players never choose a specific class, such a rogue or wizard. Instead, players continuously make decisions that develop their character organically.
New characters begin at level 0 - This means that all characters start with the same base stats and capabilities. Making a new character is all about looks, personality, and personal history; rather than skills and abilities.
No Dice! - This system only uses coin flips. This makes it accessible for those who can not access multi-sided dice.
I made Loose Change because I saw flaws in the systems that I was playing. Here are some problems and how I solved them:
When using coins, the probabilities deviate much more harshly. You can see what I mean when you look at the following table:
Once players begin using 6 coins, it is possible for the DM to all but guarantee success or failure by setting the difficulty to 1 or 6 respectively. Players will also learn to use these probabilities to their own advantage through the use of Bonus Coins.
